Mt.Phangran Razi 

Towering 4330 m above sea is one of the most demanding peak to scale among the many peaks in the region. Generally cover with snow between November and May. The remoteness and difficult accessibility of the region has help maintain the pristine purity of it forest and eco-system offering unparalleled opportunities to present day professionals in the field of zoology, botany, forestry, environmental protection, conservation and ecology.

 

Day 01: Yangon arrival & sightseeing (by car)

Arrive at Yangon International Airport and welcome by Young Top Tycoon Tourism representative and our tour guide. Check in hotel. Yangon sightseeing includes; the Royal Park , one of the most popular green spaces in the downtown area of Yangon. Here you see the glittering Karaweik Barge, a replica of the Royal Bridge and enjoy the view over the lake up to the Shwedagon Pagoda. Visit to the city center with the gilded 2500 years Sule Pagoda.And visit colonial style buildings surrounding Mahabandula Park . Proceed toChaukhtatgyi (Reclining Buddha) Pagoda to see 70-meters long colossal reclining Buddha. Then drive to stroll through a narrow street of China Town including the short visit to Tao Temple. Then, shortly before sunset, the 107 meters high golden stupa of Shwedagon Pagoda will glitter in the soft light of the early evening.

Day 02: Yangon – Putao (by flight & car) (Tue/ Fri)

Upon arrival at Putao airport you will be met by Putao Trekking House's representative and transferred to your guest house. Putao lies in a flat valley, jumping-off point for trekkers who want to explore the region’s deep forests, wildlife sanctuaries and snow-capped mountains etc. After a brief fresh up take a walk around Putao for the orientation. Dinner and overnight at Putao Lodge.

 

 

 

Day 03: Putao – Shangaung – Wasandum (jeep / trek) (Wed/ Sat)

Early in the morning walk to Putao market (approx 10 minute), visit attractive market often busy with local ethnic tribes. Return to hotel, breakfast and depart by jeep or truck depending on the group size to upper Shangaung (17 km, approx one hour) on a rugged road. Your adventure starts as you get off the jeep and start trek to Wasandum (20 km, approx 6 hours) trek through Mt. Shangaung at 4468 ft, 1362 meters. First 10 km will be straight up along the trail winding up to the top of Mt. Shangaung from then trail goes all the way down to Wasandum. This will be the testing journey as you have to ascend from 1060 meters up to 1362 meters and then descend back to 860 meters. Wasandum is a small Rawan village situates by Namro creek. Check in at your guest house and for those who wish to wash up may go to Namro creek to do so with crystal clean water. Dinner and overnight at Wasandum village house in dormitory style.

 

Day 04: Wasandum – Awadum – Kalang – Ziyadum (trek) (Thu/ Sun)

Breakfast and leave the village for your today destination at Ziyadum, through relatively flat land with just few of ups and downs. At first cross Namro creek to Awadum (7.4 km, approx 3 hours). Awadum is mainly inhabited by Lisu and separate in to two by a large paddy field. Here we cross a suspension bridge that spans Namlang creek to Kalang (4.8 km, approx one hour and thirty minute). Lunch stop and continue trek to Ziyadum (6.4 km, approx 2 hours) through deep evergreen forests. Ziyadum, situate at an altitude of 3440 ft, 1048 meters is the most northwestern and last frontier village in Putao region, mainly resident are Rawan tribe. It is recommended to visit Ziya creek for a fantastic sunset view with a blazing snow Mountains in the west which spark in to steady flowing Ziya creek. Dinner and overnight at Ziyadum village house in dormitory style.

 

Day 05: Ziyadum – Camp I (trek) (Fri/ Mon)

Breakfast and set off for camp I through lush evergreen forests. After a couple of hours walking finally reach to Phangran creek which you will be following next several days until reach camp IV. At this point you will have to change our hiking boots in to sneakers as you will have to cross the creek every now and then. After about 5 long hours trek ups and downs through the bank, times and again cross the cold water creek you finally reach your today destination at camp I, locate at approx 4140 ft, 1260 meters above sea. Quick dry up and relax at camp fire while your porter and cook prepare for the night meal and accommodation. Enjoy your dinner and overnight at camp.

 

Day 06: Camp I – Camp II (trek) (Sat/ Tue)

Enjoy morning beauty of the nature surrounding while your cook prepare breakfast. Set off for today destination camp II, situate at approx 4480 ft, 1366 meters. After some 6 hour trekking through the creek, ups and downs, hiking from the side of the river bank you finally arrive at camp II. As usual quick dry up and relax at camp fire while your team pitches the tents and cook prepare for the night meal. Enjoy dinner and overnight at camp.

 

 

 

Day 07: Camp II – Camp III – Cave Camp (trek) (Sun/ Wed)

Enjoy another beautiful morning of lush evergreen forest with a backdrop of high mountains in the far below the mist. Breakfast and set off for camp III, locate at 5330 ft, 1624 meters. The trek mostly up through the water, side to the valley, back down to the creek etc. Continue your today destination at Cave camp locates at 7400 ft, 2255 meters. As you move on the trek become more and more difficult. After 7 hours challenging trek you will finally reach the camp. As usual while we quick dry up at camp fire, rest of the team prepare for the night meal and accommodation. Dinner and overnight at camp.

 

Day 08: Cave Camp – Camp IV or Chaungson Camp (trek) (Mon/ Thu)

If you wake up early to witness the sun rising up from the horizon to make a beautiful painting having thick, dark jungle one side and blazing Snow Mountains on the other. Breakfast and set off for your today destination camp IV, locate at 9570 ft, 2917 meters. To day journey will be the most challenging one as the route going up steady and the water filled creek now become much smaller, some time disappear in to large boulders and occasional waterfalls. As you go higher the climb becomes deeper and strenuous. After a hard and long day on the rough terrain finally reach camp IV (located at the bottom of the snow capped mountains). Warm up with a camp fire as weather at this altitude is freezing cold. Night meal and overnight at camp.

 

Day 09: Camp IV – Base Camp (Mountaineering) (Tue/ Fri)

At this point we have to prepare for the challenging trek as from now on we will be on the snow for next a couple of days. We will also have to carry most of our supply especially canned food and warm clothes. Having about two hours trek we reach on the top of a small plateau at elevation 12000ft, 3650 meters, from where the view is gorgeous with many glaciers around. At this point we will see the peak of Mt. Phangram Razi right ahead of us towering high in the horizon. We continue trek through the slopping down hill and then to steady up. After a steady trek of 3 to 4 hours we will reach at base camp located at 12200ft, 3720 meters. The so-called base camp has no facility for overnight or making fire but just a small stone cave with space large enough to pitch a couple of tents. To night we have to get by with packed dinner as there is no facility to prepare a warm meal.

 

Day 10: Base Camp – Summit Mt. Phangran – Camp IV (Mountaineering) (Wed / Sat)

Try to make the summit at 14200 ft, 4328 meters at first day light to beat the weather change. The route will be steady up on a narrow shoulder of stone based peak. The gusty wind may make this short trek challenging as you will have to stay on relatively narrow cliff. If you are lucky you will reach to the summit by still early hour in the morning. Try to stay some time on the top, make record of the success ascend as not many others has ever scale this mountain. Start descend steady to the base camp and continue back to camp IV. Warm coffee and refreshment should await you as we reach the camp. A sumptuous dinner should plan along with celebrating bonfire. Dinner and overnight at camp.

 

Day 11:Camp IV – Camp II (trek) (Thu/ Sun)

Bit farewell to mighty one and set off for camp II, passing by camp III. Return journey will be faster although by no mean easier having descended from 2900 to 1400 meters. With much of ups and down and un-countable water cross you finally reach to your today destination at camp II. Dinner and overnight at camp.

 

 

 

 

Day 12: Camp II – Ziyadum (trek) (Fri/ Mon)

Have a relaxing morning as the distance to day will be much shorter. Early lunch and we set off for Ziyadum as usual crossing cold water creek, hiking ups and down the valley etc. The more you descend down the swifter current became which actually make water cross challenging one if not dangerous. Once you get off the water and in to the jungle and after a couple of hour walk you finally reach Ziya plateau with a smoke from the farm which will be the first message of civilization. Hot shower and a warm bed by all mean will be of a greatest reward at this point. Dinner and overnight at Ziyadum village house.

 

Day 13: Ziyadum – Wasandum (trek) (Sat / Tue)

Have a lazy morning and after an early lunch bid farewell to the villagers and head back to your today destination, Awadum crossing suspension bridges and through beautiful evergreen Avenues. Dinner and overnight at Wasandum village house.

 

 

 

 

 

Day 14: Wasandum – Shangaung – Putao (trek / Jeep) (Sun/ Wed)

Having left the wilderness behind and returning to the clutches of human civilization. The trek goes challenging uphill to the plateau of Mt. Shangaung, before rapidly downhill to Shangaung where your jeep would meets us and takes us back to Putao. This evening we shall celebrate a farewell dinner with our fellow group members, including leaders, porters, and commemorate the experience that you have shared for the past 12 days in this unique part of the world. Dinner and overnight at Putao Lodge.

 

 

 

Day 15: Putao – Machanbaw – Mulashidi – Putao (jeep) (Mon/ Thu)

Breakfast and we visit attractive Putao market often busy with local ethnic tribes. Later we leave by jeep to Naungkhine with the distance 22.4 km which should take us about one hour. Here we cross 211 meters long Malikha suspension bridge on foot to Machanbaw, a small administrative town beautifully set up with colonial style. We shall visit this charming town following a visit this charming town following a visit to so-called “stone dragon” park which should take approx 20 minute walk. We return back to Naungkhine where our jeep awaits us and takes us to Mulashidi Lisu village with the distance 35 km which should take about one hour. Here we visit the attractive Lisu settlement and another suspension bridge across Mula River. We enjoy beautiful surrounding often back-drop with snow-capped mountains in distance. Later we return back to Putao and check in at hotel. Dinner and overnight at Putao Lodge.

 

Day 16: Putao – Yangon (Tue/ Fri)

Breakfast and perhaps a last minute shopping at Putao market and further visit in and around Putao with suggestion by your guide. Lunch and afternoon transfer to airport for flight back to Yangon. Overnight at hotel in Yangon.

 

 

 

 

 

Day 17: Yangon sightseeing & departure (by car)

After breakfast at hotel, morning stop to take photo in the front of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s house area who got Nobel peace prize in 1991. Shopping at Gems mart and Handicraft shops at Bogyoke (Scott) Market where you can buy many souvenirs. And visitKaba Aye (World Peace) Pagodaand drive to Yangon International airport for departure. If time permit on the way visit to Lawka Chanthar Arbayar Laba Muni Buddha Image (Kyauktawgyi) and White Elephant camp and departure.
